Final Fantasy 8 News

{May 17, 1998 10:55 Eastern}: Ok, I have just found all the Final Fantasy 8 pics in existence (well, on the web anyway).

{May 17, 1998 10:25 Eastern}: I have just found the first real pic of Final Fantasy 8!!! This is not the logo, it is a real pic of a character in FFVIII. I think it might be Ramia, but no one can be sure.

{May 16, 1998}: A video game site has just recieved the first Final Fantasy 8 logo directly from E3(Electronic Entertainment Expo), which is the equivilent of the Shoshinkai show in Japan. I think thats what they call it anyway... If you would like to see it (and I'm sure you would),

{May 11, 1998}: This is FF9 news reposted from The Final Fantasy VII Homepage (www.dragonfire.net/~sato/ff7hp.htm), written by Ike Sato.
Square has started development since April of a new type of game in Hawaii, Honolulu. They have formed a development team consisting of about 120 staff members, mostly composed of computer graphic technicians from the U.S. By March 2000, they will spend about 7 - 8 billion yen (approximately $ 70 - 80 million) on development and production, and their product will be released in the Final Fantasy series. Actual developments will be handled by Square USA. They will have a Honolulu branch ready, an to create a next generation game that surpass motion pictures. In conjunction to thiand will recruit CG, movie, and game technicians; 60 staff members each from Japan and the U.S. With this team, they will combine movie cinematography and a great game engine, and pls, they are also in production of a full length CG movie based on the themes of Final Fantasy. Their primary objective is to improve their skills in CG, as well as scenario and performance. This new type of game will be released as Final Fantasy IX. Meanwhile, Square of Japan and Square LA will continue with their usual software developments.

{April 18, 1998}: A video gaming magazine called EGM2 got info from a "reliable source" that details about FF8 could be released around May 15. Square could not confirm anything at this point but I am hoping that it is true. Squaresoft said that any news before that would be for the Japanese version and Americans would have to wait for anything else than that. All I can say is bookmark this page and wait another couple of week or so then come back and I will probably have some more info by then. Once I get the game I will start building this page immediately based on the info I gather from playing. For now if you need to get addicted to an RPG by Square, go out and rent Final Fantasy Tactics. You can visit Jester's Final Fantasy Tactics site
